Tänä viikonloppuna tuli se olo, että tästä se lähtee. Nimittäin ensimmäinen vaihto-oppilasvalmennus, YFU:n järjestämänä Virroilla, oli käynnissä! Tunnelma oli aivan mahtava ja lähtiessä aivot vain pursuivat kaikkea tarvittavaa tietoa! Parasta oli kyllä se, kuinka pääsi tapaamaan kaikkia muita Suomesta lähteviä vaihtareita ja kaikki me ollaan ihan samassa tilanteessa. Keskusteluja oli helppo availla ihan pelkästään kyselemällä kohdemaavalinnasta sun muusta.
Workshopit oli hauskoja, vaikka vain muutamien tuntien yöunilla siellä yritettiin lyöttää päät yhteen ja keksiä tapoja selvitä kaikista niistä koettelemuksista mitä vuosi varmasti tuo tullessaan. Vaikka meitä kuinka yritettiin pelotella ja varoitella, niin loppujen lopuksi innostus sen kuin kasvoi, enkä millään malttaisi odottaa!
I'm studying my first year of upper secondary school in SYK in Helsinki, in the IB-programme, although I live in Espoo. I love photography and travelling, not to mention my friends and my family. The French language has been close to my heart since fourth grade when I first began learning it and going for exchange has been on my mind for almost as long. Therefore, it wasn't very surprising that I decided to go as an exchange student to a French-speaking country!
This weekend I got the feeling that this is where it all begins. That is to say, the first exchange student orientation, operated by YFU at Virrat had started! The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and whilst leaving, my brain was overflowing with so much useful information! The best part was how you got to meet all the other students from Finland and how we all are in the exact same position. Conversations were easy to start just by asking about their country of choice and so on.
The workshops were fun, although people had slept just a few hours and we had to work together to come up with ways to survive through all the complications that the year is sure to bring us. Although they tried their best to scare us and warn us, at the end, the excitement just grew and now I can't wait to get out there!
