Perusideana siis on "poète":ien (eli tavallaan lukion toisen luokan oppilaiden, joihin minäkin kuulun) ja "rhéto":jen (eli ns. abien) välinen turnaus, jossa otetaan toisistaan mittaa koripallossa, baseballissa, sekä jalkapallossa. Päivä huipentuu Rhétojen järjestämään tilaisuuteen jossa pääaiheena "remise du flambeau" eli toisin sanoen, soihdun laittaminen eteenpäin, rhétoilta poèteille. Sininen sen takia, että rhétojen väri on sininen, kun taas poètien on punainen. Mutta ruban bleu on kuitenkin niin paljon enemmän kuin kaikki tuo.
Miten sitä kuvailisi? Kuurouttavaa huutamista, laulamista, pillien, torvien, rumpujen raikumista, punaista ja sinistä silmänkantamattomiin, yli katon nousevaa tunnelmaa joka alkaa jo kahdeksalta aamulla ja jatkuu aina kolmeen asti seuraavana aamuna. Matseja kannustetaan enemmän kuin täysillä jokaikinen sekunti, cheerleaderit mukana nostamassa tunnelmaa heti jos se vähänkään meinaa hiipua. Iltainen spektaakkeli taas naurattaa, hämmästyttää, järkyttää ja tietenkin itkettää, sillä siinä puhutaan siitä kuinka tänä vuonna loppuu rhétojen matka yhdessä, tässä koulussa. Itsellänihän on useitakin ystäviä rhétolla ja tietenkin minun matkanikin loppuu tämän kouluvuoden päätyttyä... Ilta kuitenkin jatkui sen jälkeen private-bileillä, jossa siis vain meidän koulun poètit ja rhétot.
Joka tapauksessa, Ruban Bleu on jotain sellaista mitä pitää ihan itse kokea, jotta ymmärtää sen täysillä. Minullehan oltiin puhuttu tästä tapahtumasta heti ekoista päivistä lähtien ja minulle näytettiin videokoosteita jne, mutta ei se ole koskaan sama juttu. En ihan tuota kuitenkaan osannut odottaa, mutta iloisesti yllätyin! Oli kyllä aivan uskomaton päivä!! Tässä vähän kuvamateriaalia, joka ei kyllä ole minun ottamaani, sillä itse keskityin liikaa itse tunnelmaan.

The biggest event in school: Le Ruban Bleu. In English that would be translated as "The Blue Ribbon". What blue ribbon?
The basic idea is a tournament between the poètes (kind of like juniors of high school, of whom I am part of too) and the rhétos (seniors), where we play games of basketball, baseball and football. The day is finished off with a show organized by the Rhétos, where the main idea is the "remise du flambeau" so in other words, the passing on of the torch, from the rhétos to the poètes. Blue because the colour of the Rhétos is blue, while that of the Poètes is red. But in the end, the ruban bleu is so much more than that.
How should I describe it? Deafening screaming, singing, blaring of whistles, horns, drums and whatnot, red and blue as far as you can see and the atmosphere that rises way above the ceiling starting already from 8 in the morning and continuing until 3 on the next morning. The matches are supported more than you'd think every single second and the cheerleaders are there to lift the atmosphere back up whenever it's even on the verge of dying down. The show in the evening on the other hand makes you laugh, amazes, shocks, and of course makes you cry, since they talk about how at the end of this year the long trip of the rhétos together in this school is coming to an end. Personally I've got a bunch of friends on rhéto and of course my own little trip will end soon. However, the night continued after that with a little private party for our school's rhétos and poètes only.
Anyway, the Ruban Bleu is something everyone has to experience for himself to understand it fully. Everyone had been talking about it to me ever since I came here and they even showed me videos etc, but it's never really the same thing. I didn't really expect that, but I was so positively surprised! It was such an amazing day!! Here's some photos, which I didn't take myself since I was too concentrated on the general feeling.

Päivä aloitetaan siis molempien joukkueiden sisääntulolla, joka oli paljon äänekkäämpi kuin luulin! Ideana kun siis on tehdä niin paljon ääntä kun vain mahdollista. Meidän poètien teemana supersankarit! Siksi viittoja sekä meidän supersankari-logo löytyy.

The day is started with the entry of both teams, which was a lot more noisier than I thought it would be! The point is to make as much noise as possible. Our, the poètes' theme was superheroes! That is why you can see capes and our superhero logo.

Ensimmäisenä matsina siis koripallo, joka alkoi tiukasti, mutta lopussa meidän ote katosi ja häviö tuli. Jokaisella tauolla pom-pom-tytöt tulivat nostattamaan tunnelmaa, vaikka se olikin jo katossa.

The first match is basketball, which started out intensely, but in the end, we lost our touch and in came the first loss. During every break, the pom-pom-girls came up to boost the atmosphere, even though it was already at its max.

Toinen laji vuorossa onkin baseball, jossa rhétot vei murskavoiton... Tässä oltiin hävitty siis jo koko Ruban Bleu, vaikka futismatsi vielä oli odottamassa, mutta ei se tanssiminen, laulaminen ja huutaminen siihen loppunut!

The next sport was baseball, where the rhétos simply just smashed us... At this point we had already lost the entire Ruban Bleu, although the football match was still to come, but that didn't stop the dancing, singing and shouting!

Lastly football and although we had a superteam, the victory ended up going to the rhétos again. Well, it doesn't matter! The show must go on!

Sitten seurasi rhétojen näytös, joka oli huikea. Siihen sisältyy poètien, opettajien ja muun koulun henkilökunnan nöyryytys kaikin mahdollisin tavoin sekä tanssi- ja lauluesityksiä, jotka kaikki on koottu yhteen rhétojen teeman mukaan: Rhétos on the moon. Kaikki tekivät uskomattoman hienon homman ja oli ihana nähdä ystäviäni lavalla esiintymässä. Harmi vain, että se loppui niin monen kyyneliin.

Then followed the show of the rhétos, which was awesome. It includes the humiliation of the poètes, the teachers and the rest of the school staff in all the possible ways as well as dancing and singing performances, which were all put together according to the rhétos' theme: Rhétos on the moon. Everyone did an amazing job and it was great to see some of my friends up there performing. Sadly it ended in tears for so many people.
